Head of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus, Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev Archdiocese Iosif Stanevsky has conveyed an official invitation to Pope Leo XIV to visit Belarus. The hierarch announced this in an interview with the Belarusian edition of Vatican News, BelTA has learned.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Holy See Yuri Ambrazevich presented his credentials to Pope Leo XIV, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

Igor Sergeyenko met Pope Leo XIV, conveying congratulations from President Lukashenko and gifting an icon. He emphasized shared Christian values and hopes for peace, inviting the Pope to visit Belarus.

Belarus praised Pope Francis’s peace efforts at his funeral and is strengthening Vatican ties.
