Who will be able to enroll in the Academy of Intellectual Technologies

The minister noted that the Academy of Intellectual Technologies is designed to bring together not only gifted young people but also the best educators and practicing scientists. At the meeting with the president, particular emphasis was placed on exactly who would enroll into this institution. «Students who are graduates of the National Children’s Technopark, winners of international and national Olympiads, should have the right to undergo selection and gain admission to the academy,» Andrei Ivanets emphasized.

At the same time, college graduates and university students will also be given the opportunity to apply. Enrollment for each field of study will not exceed 10-15 people.

How education at the Academy will be organized

The minister noted that, starting essentially from the first or second year, students of the Academy of Intellectual Technologies will receive personalized instruction. «Students will work on specific production-related tasks, and ultimately we will understand exactly for which end-user we are training not only a specialist but also developing the corresponding product,» Andrei Ivanets stated.

Instead of the traditional thesis defense, graduates of the academy will be required to defend a technological start-up project, through which their competencies in their chosen field will be confirmed and substantiated. «The educational process will involve not only the real economy but also academic institutes. This will be an attractive hub for both students and faculty,» the minister added.

Specialists will be trained in fields such as natural sciences, engineering, and digital technologies.

Why these specific fields were chosen

Speaking about the natural sciences, Andrei Ivanets noted the importance of training specialists in fundamental and applied mathematics, physics, and chemistry. In this case, it is not about classical education. «It is about ensuring that these specialists are focused on solving applied problems facing enterprises in the real economy,» he explained.

The minister emphasized that ensuring the country’s technological sovereignty lies primarily in the realm of engineering education. This is precisely why engineering technologies were selected as one of the Academy’s key focus areas. «Such practical fields as applied materials science, physicochemical engineering, and aerospace technologies will have their place at the Academy,» Andrei Ivanets stated.

As for digital technologies, he noted that digital transformation permeates virtually every walk of life. In this regard, the training of specialists in applied artificial intelligence, digital financial technologies, and other related fields is becoming particularly important.
