07.10.2026 | 11:00

The Belarusian national football team has won its second match in the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, BelTA has learned.

In their fourth group-stage match, Viktor Gancharenko’s men faced Finland in Budapest. Belarus’ striker Artyom Shumansky opened the scoring just 14 seconds into the game, the fastest goal in the national team’s history. Soon after, Belarus won a penalty, but Zakhar Volkov failed to convert it.

There were no further changes to the score in the second half, and it finished 1-0 to Belarus. The first meeting between Belarus and Finland on 29 September in Helsinki ended in a 0-0 draw. In the current Nations League campaign, Belarus also lost to Albania (0-2) and beat San Marino (4-0). After four rounds in Group C1, Belarus and Finland both have 7 points, while Albania have two more.

The next matches in the tournament will take place next month: Belarus will play San Marino on 12 November, and will face Albania on 15 November. The winner of the quartet will go directly up to Division B of the Nations League for the 2028/29 season, while the team that finishes second will play promotion/relegation play-offs next year for the right to play in Division B.
