Belarus builds testing infrastructure for DC charging stations

13.10.2026 | 17:00

The Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification (BelGISS) nears completion of a testing infrastructure for direct-current (DC) charging stations, BelGISS Director Aleksandr Skuratov said at a press conference on 12 October, BelTA has learned.

According to Aleksandr Skuratov, one of the key objectives of the institute is to build modern testing facilities. This is necessary not only to introduce new standards but also to ensure effective monitoring of compliance. He noted a positive new trend: enterprises are increasingly turning to BelGISS to have their goods tested before they enter production. This preventive approach gives manufacturers greater confidence that their goods will successfully pass official certification tests before mass production begins.

Highlighting specific achievements, the director pointed to the development of infrastructure for electric transport. «In 2024, BelGISS successfully launched testing of alternating-current (AC) charging stations for electric vehicles for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility. Work on a test base for DC charging stations is set to finish in 2026,» he explained.

This will give Belarus a comprehensive set of facilities for testing electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The initiative is fully aligned with government targets for increasing the number of electric vehicles in the country. The introduction of new requirements for next-generation charging stations will provide a solid foundation for domestic manufacturers and strengthen their export potential.

Another promising area the institute is addressing at the standards-design stage is the cybersecurity of autonomous electric vehicles. Aleksandr Skuratov emphasized that this issue is becoming a key priority in leading automotive-producing countries as digital technologies become more widely integrated into transport.

«The European Union, the Republic of Korea, and Japan have already introduced such requirements, thereby establishing substantial safeguards for their domestic markets. Since a vehicle is a source of increased danger, ensuring its cybersecurity is critical to overall road safety,» he concluded.
