Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Yuri Seliverstov visited Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia on 18 March, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador and Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast Denis Pasler discussed the most topical matters of all-round and dynamically advancing cooperation between Belarus and the Russian region. Close attention was paid to filling the itinerary of the governor’s upcoming visit to Belarus.

The key topics of the negotiations between the ambassador and the governor included the expansion of deliveries of Belarusian passenger vehicles, municipal vehicles, agricultural machines, and trucks, matters of the quality of the vehicles and machines, aftersales service and modernization, prospects of implementation of industrial cooperation projects of the Belarusian lift manufacturer Mogilevliftmash in the region. The parties exchanged opinions about the involvement of Belarusian designers in the development of the metro system in the city of Yekaterinburg. Minskmetroproject Director Mikhail Rudko took part in the meeting.

After negotiations Yuri Seliverstov told reporters that the trade turnover between Belarus and Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast has been going up for the last two to three years but has yet to reach the figures that were registered five years ago. «We have something to strive for and we have to find contact points,» he said.

Speaking about shipments of Belarusian machines and vehicles, the ambassador noted that Sverdlovsk Oblast climate allows trialing Belarusian vehicles and machines in conditions harsher than Belarus’ and allows identifying the bottlenecks. «People here know our vehicles, appreciate their quality and reliability. As a matter of principle, the colleagues are ready to cooperate with us,» he noted.

As part of the business trip the ambassador went to Ural Works of Civil Aviation where the implementation of the Belarusian-Russian project to create Osvey aircraft was discussed. «The project is being implemented. Yes, unfortunately, the progress is not as fast as we would like it to be. This is why we compared notes with the colleagues about how the project will progress, what bottlenecks have been encountered, and what needs to be done to understand when we can reach the final result,» the ambassador told reporters.

Yuri Seliverstov also visited Kalinin Machine-Building Plant. The ambassador and the company’s management discussed the advancement of industrial cooperation with the Belarusian holding company Amkodor for the sake of making loaders powered by electric motors and diesel engines, for the sake of production localization, transfer of technologies and competences.
