Belarus’ gold and foreign exchange reserves increased by $1.048 billion in August to stand at $15.243 billion as of 1 September 2026, the press service of Belarus’ National Bank told BelTA.

«The growth in gold and foreign exchange reserves was primarily driven by the increase in gold prices on international financial markets,» the press service noted.

Foreign currency assets and monetary gold account for the largest share in the structure of Belarus’ international reserve assets. According to the National Bank, foreign currency reserves stood at $5.9176 billion as of 1 September, increasing by $108.7 million in August, while monetary gold reserves amounted to $7.9135 billion, up by $929.8 million.

In line with monetary policy guidelines, Belarus’ international reserve assets are targeted to reach at least $9.2 billion by the end of 2026.
