Belarus invites Kazakhstan to step up industrial cooperation

01.10.2026 | 11:00

Belarus and Kazakhstan have significant potential to boost mutual supplies of goods, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said during talks at the Government House with Kazakhstani Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, who is on an official visit to Minsk, BelTA has learned.

«We are pleased to note the intense pace of contacts at the government level, including within integration associations, as well as through business circles and joint cultural, educational, tourism and sports events,» Aleksandr Turchin said.

Mutual trade rose 23.9% last year and was up 16% in the first seven months of this year.

«Belarus is interested in purchasing vegetables and melons, rolled metal, technical sulfur and railway equipment from Kazakhstan,» Aleksandr Turchin noted. «On our side, we are ready to offer a whole range of both industrial and agricultural products, as well as foodstuffs. I am confident that Kazakhstani manufacturers taking part in the INNOPROM. Belarus exhibition and in the Belarus-Kazakhstan Business Council these days will find strong partners in our country for implementing their business projects and will contribute new ideas for the further development of business ties.»

Belarus invites Kazakhstan to intensify traditional forms of trade in industrial goods and to more actively seek out and develop opportunities for industrial cooperation.

Aleksandr Turchin congratulated Kazakhstan on the successful holding of the country’s historic elections to the Kurultai, and congratulated Olzhas Bektenov on his reappointment as head of Kazakhstan’s government. According to him, today’s meeting underscores the importance Belarus attaches to cooperation with Kazakhstan. Positive momentum in economic interaction is sustained by the effective work of the Belarus-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The Program of Measures for the Development of Trade and Economic Cooperation for 2025-2029, signed by the two governments, is also aimed at intensifying cooperation.

As an example of this partnership, Aleksandr Turchin cited the assembly of tractors and combine harvesters, which have been providing Kazakhstan’s farmers with modern and affordable equipment for years. «A fairly broad range of agricultural machinery models has been mastered at production sites in Kazakhstan. At the same time, we are ready to move further so that joint production meets the most diverse needs of local consumers and takes into account the latest achievements of engineering,» he noted.

The agro-industrial sector remains a key focus of cooperation. Belarusian food products are popular with consumers in Kazakhstan, and Belarus is doing everything it can to uphold its reputation as a producer of high-quality, organic foodstuffs.

«We are also ready to offer well-tested technologies in agronomy and livestock farming, as well as technological equipment for livestock farms, grain drying complexes and elevators,» the prime minister added.

Kazakhstan is pursuing the development of nuclear energy. An important step in this direction was taken in September. «Our country has developed its own competencies in this field, which we are ready to share. This area of cooperation opens up broad prospects and, I am confident, will produce a synergistic effect for the development of ties in industry, construction, science and education,» Aleksandr Turchin said.

Interregional ties also make a substantial contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation. A forum of regions of Belarus and Kazakhstan could lend this work greater consistency and dynamism.

«Holding Belarusian Culture Days in Kazakhstan in 2027 would also help bring our peoples closer together and strengthen humanitarian ties. Events on this scale not only showcase the richness of our traditions but also encourage a real dialogue between people, forging long-term connections in art, education and tourism,» the prime minister said.

Sport is a separate vector of cooperation. In July, the Belarusian team competed at the Games of the Future in Astana, and in September athletes met at the 6th World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan.

«I am confident that today’s meeting will help identify promising growth points for further development and enrich our bilateral agenda with new substance. I would like to emphasize once again our openness to dialogue and our interest in strengthening our contacts. Given our allied, strategic partnership, I propose we continue regular mutual visits by heads of government,» Aleksandr Turchin noted.

Following the talks, a number of bilateral documents were signed. These include action plans on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation for 2026-2028 between Grodno Oblast and Kostanay Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Pavlodar Oblast, and Gomel Oblast and Pavlodar Oblast, as well as a memorandum of cooperation and a 2027-2028 action plan for cooperation in the trade, economic, scientific, technical and social spheres between the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee and the Turkestan Oblast Akimat.
