The Government House will host a regular meeting of the two countries’ intergovernmental commission on 2 June. Aleksandr Turchin noted that the work of the commission proved effective, with all emerging issues being consistently resolved at its level.
«It is no secret that Belarus and Azerbaijan are historically bound by very close relations. The reliability of our friendship has been proven time and again in various situations. This high level of relations has become possible thanks to our leaders — the presidents of our countries, Ilham Aliyev and Aleksandr Lukashenko. Therefore, the task of our governments is to ensure the implementation of all existing agreements,» the Belarusian prime minister emphasized.
Aleksandr Turchin added that all the planned and discussed projects are being implemented. «What we discussed during our meeting with Ilham Aliyev [during the visit of the government delegation to Azerbaijan in May 2025] — his stance on deepening our cooperation by setting up joint ventures in Azerbaijan — is certainly paying off. Therefore, we can highlight elevator manufacturing and mechanical engineering. And, of course, special words of gratitude go to Azerbaijan’s president for our cooperation in utility equipment. This was his decision,» the head of government noted.
Aleksandr Turchin added that the Azerbaijani delegation has a very packed schedule ahead, including a visit to the Belagro exhibition. «I am confident that this intensive collaboration will spark new projects and reveal new areas of common interest,» he said.
Samir Sharifov pointed out that the close dialogue, mutual respect, and friendship between the presidents of the two countries allow the governments to carry out their assigned tasks. «The intergovernmental commission serves as a vital institutional platform for advancing our cooperation. I believe this meeting will give us a chance to discuss issues that require acceleration and probably map out new areas for our cooperation,» he said.
The Azerbaijani side views trade figures as quite positive. «Nevertheless, the goal of doubling mutual trade remains on our agenda, as instructed by our presidents,» Samir Sharifov said. «We fully share your position regarding the creation of joint ventures.»
