06.10.2026 | 09:00

The Belarusian national football team will play its next UEFA Nations League group-stage match on 6 October, BelTA has learned.

In the fourth round, Belarus will host Group C1 leaders Finland in Budapest (kick-off at 21:45; live broadcast on Sport TV). The match in the Hungarian capital will be officiated by a German team of referees led by Sascha Stegemann.

In the first leg in Helsinki, the two sides played out a 0-0 draw. In addition, Viktor Gancharenko’s men thrashed San Marino 4-0 in Budapest and lost 0-2 to Albania in Tirana. On the same day, the Albanian team will play San Marino at home. The standings after three rounds are: Finland — 7 points, Albania — 6, Belarus — 4, San Marino — 0. On the fifth matchday, 12 November, Belarus will play in San Marino, and on 15 November they will complete the first stage in Budapest with a match against Albania.

After four rounds, only the reigning Nations League winners, Portugal, remain unbeaten in the top division. The Portuguese claimed their fourth win in Group A4 in Porto, beating Norway 2-1. Denmark moved into second place after beating Wales 1-0 in Cardiff. The standings are: Portugal — 12 points, Denmark — 6, Wales — 3, Norway — 3. In Group A3, world champions Spain have won all three of their matches and will play Croatia in Split today. Another favorite in the group, England, will host the Czech Republic in London. The standings are: Spain — 9 points, England — 6, Croatia — 3, Czech Republic — 0.

In the first stage, Nations League participants are divided into four divisions: Leagues A, B and C each have four quartets, while League D has two groups of three teams each. The group stages will end on 17 November. In spring 2027, the teams finishing first and second in League A will continue the fight for the trophy. The quarterfinals will be held in March, after which the four best teams will advance to the finals in June.

The winners of League B will move up to League A, and the four best teams in League C will move up to League B. In addition, due to the change in the tournament format, all League D teams will be promoted to League C. Starting with the 2028/29 season, UEFA Nations League participants will be divided into three leagues. Each of the three divisions — A, B and C — will have three groups of six teams.

Portugal have won the Nations League twice (2019, 2025), while France (2021) and Spain (2023) have each won it once.
