Belarus’ Turavinau wins gold at Kazakhstan Open 2026

Belarusian athletes won four medals on the opening day of the prestigious G1-category international taekwondo tournament Kazakhstan Open 2026 in Astana, Kazakhstan, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Training Center Stayki.


The Belarusian team secured one gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Raman Turavinau claimed victory in the men’s U80kg category. Another reigning European champion, Yulia Vitko, took silver in the women’s U57kg category. Bronze medals went to Maksim Bandarevich (under 63kg) and Artsiom Plonis (over 87kg).

The award ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Belarusian Karate Federation Aleksei Bogdanov.

The Kazakhstan Open 2026 has brought together more than 1,000 taekwondo athletes from 30 countries. The Belarusian delegation comprises 34 competitors.On 26 July, medals will be contested among juniors under 18, winners and prizewinners in the U16 age category will be determined on 27 July.
