The key topic of the talks between Maxim Ryzhenkov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, head of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev was the prospects for stepping up bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including by drawing on the potential of the business communities of the two countries.
The parties reached an agreement to hold a bilateral business forum and a number of other events aimed at expanding ties and interaction between entrepreneurs and industrialists of the two countries.
The parties highlighted the need to step up cooperation through the chambers of commerce and industry, in particular their regional branches.
The parties emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for investment and joint projects in various sectors of the economy, including light and food industries.
Maxim Ryzhenkov also met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Annayev to review the work of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Turkmen commission on economic cooperation as an effective tool for the further development of economic partnership.
The parties agreed to hold a meeting of the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission, who are the deputy prime ministers of Belarus and Turkmenistan, in the near future.
The parties paid particular attention to cooperation in the logistics sector and the possibility of Belarus’ using the North-South and West-East transport and logistics corridors that run through the territory of Turkmenistan and port infrastructure with a view of building up delivery chains for domestic goods in the Caspian region.
Maxim Ryzhenkov and Batyr Annayev also explored the topic of restoring air service between the capitals of the two states, which is particularly relevant amid the intensification of business contacts and the growing number of Turkmen students studying at Belarusian universities.
The Turkmen side, for its part, expressed interest in the further development of cooperation in the field of education and the training of highly qualified personnel in specialties that are in demand in the country.
