Pavel Muraveiko emphasized that the exercise is one of the main phases of a comprehensive inspection and is exclusively defensive in nature. Its concept is based on the current military-political situation and also the achievements in military art in the field of development of means of armed warfare and trends in warfare within the framework of modern military conflicts.
«The exercise has a number of features. We will conduct it at the training grounds of the Armed Forces, in Brest Oblast and Minsk Oblast utilizing the natural terrain. We plan to practice the preparation of defensive lines and positions based on centers of resistance and barrier sections while making maximum use of the local industrial and administrative-economic base. We also plan to drill the most modern methods of employing troops and means of destruction: unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare systems and information warfare, conducting counter-battery warfare, and firing at long ranges. It is not excluded that during the active phase of the exercise, the actions of mechanized and tank units in combating illegal armed formations, enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, as well as repelling possible attacks and active maneuvering, will be practiced», the chief of the General Staff emphasized.
He also pointed out that the locations of the exercise are at a considerable distance from the state border. The conclusions and results of the exercise and the overall findings and results of the inspection will form the basis for the further improvement and development of the combat readiness and combat training of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
«Inspections of the combat and mobilization readiness of the Armed Forces have already become traditional in our army. We conduct them on an ongoing basis. This is not some kind of extraordinary measure and is not directed against any of the countries neighboring us. Although we are currently busy preparing and conducting the exercise and the snap inspection, we are still closely monitoring the processes of military activity that are taking place near our borders. This includes both maneuvers of troop groups and a range of operational and combat training activities taking place in Poland and the Baltic countries. We maintain a certain, heightened vigilance and will not allow any provocations against our country, no matter where they come from», Pavel Muraveiko said.
