Cooperation in agriculture and manufacturing sector is of interest to Cuban partners, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov told the media, BelTA has learned.

According to him, MPs pay special attention to interparliamentary cooperation with Cuba, both at the level of bilateral meetings and within the framework of international parliamentary forums. Parliamentary friendship groups work actively focusing recently on specific issues, in particular cooperation between Belarus and Cuba in the pharmaceutical field.

«We have held meetings and seminars related to the development of industrial cooperation. Belarus is very strong in agriculture, and this topic is of interest to our Cuban partners. Therefore, the most recent meeting between MPs was specifically dedicated to cooperation in agriculture,» Sergei Rachkov said.

The MP noted that the countries continue to cooperate across all areas such as politics, trade and economy, and humanitarian mattes despite all difficulties. The intergovernmental commission is functioning. The economic cooperation plans set by the heads of the two states are being implemented.

«The situation in international relations is very turbulent today. We see a difficult situation developing around the Republic of Cuba linked to the pressure by its neighbor. But Belarus and Cuba have stable, strong, friendly relations. They are cemented by the excellent relations between the presidents of the two countries. Recently, Aleksandr Lukashenko reaffirmed our stance toward Cuba during a meeting with the Cuban vice president in Astana,» Sergei Rachkov said.

«Therefore, regardless of any circumstances, the two countries continue interacting emphasizing their strategic partnership. The Republic of Belarus stands in solidarity with Cuba. We oppose pressure on Cuba,» the MP emphasized. «Anything that falls outside international law is unacceptable to the Republic of Belarus.»
