The Republican Theater of Belarusian Drama will take part in the international theater festival of the Beijing People’s Art Theater. Audiences will be able to see Vechar [Evening], a performance project of the Belarusian Drama Center based on a play by Honored Figure of Arts Aleksei Dudarev, on 22-25 October, representatives of the cultural institution told BelTA.

The Beijing People’s Art Theater is the leading one in China. Founded in 1952, it has since created its own drama school and invited foreign theater companies to exchange experience. From October through November exhibition projects and performances from all over the world will be shown on its stage as part of an international festival.

This Chinese cultural forum is not the first for the Republican Theater of Belarusian Drama. In autumn 2025 the company took part in the Shanghai International Arts Festival and the international theater season Autumn IS (Shanghai) with the performances Vechar and My Homeland, and in spring 2026 showings of Vechar took place at the Young Theater in the same city.

This time the performance, which has already won the affection of Chinese audiences, will be shown on the stage of the Beijing People’s Art Theater on 22, 23, and 24 October at 19:30, and on 25 October at 14:30. Capital city audiences will be able to get familiar with Belarus’ theatrical culture and see a touching and lyrical story about loneliness, love, and friendship.

Also on 18-19 October the second World Theater Forum will take place in Beijing during the festival. It will bring together outstanding figures of this sphere of art, heads of theater companies, and leaders of the theater industry from all over the world in order to exchange experience and establish international cooperation. The Republican Theater of Belarusian Drama has also been invited.

According to its director Svetlana Naumenko, cooperation with China will continue in the future. «We are working to bring the performance Kham [Lout] to the Shanghai festival and are negotiating with the Belarusian consulate to go on tour to the southern regions of China. We would also like to introduce Chinese audiences to the folk comedy Adamavy Zharty [Adam’s Pranks], which showcases a distinctive culture, and we think it would be particularly interesting,» she concluded.
