«As Asia’s leading performing arts event, now in its 28th edition, it is a great honor for us to showcase Belarusian ballet in Bangkok once again. Our current lineup features a new generation of artists — young, talented names performing alongside our masters. Between 10 and 13 September, the audience will enjoy Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella. The festival’s diverse program includes a total of 12 world-class performances from 9 countries, all hosted at the Thailand Cultural Centre’s Main Hall,» Yekaterina Dulova noted.
The theatre is going on tour with a company of nearly 80 people, including dancers, the technical crew, and management staff. «For me, this is an important moment to sign additional agreements and hold discussions with cultural and art figures, as well as representatives of the Government of Thailand,» the director general of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus added.
The touring lineup features the leading lights of Belarusian ballet who are ready to take Thailand’s capital by storm: People’s Artist of Belarus Anton Kravchenko alongside Honored Artists of Belarus Lyudmila Khitrova, Marina Vezhnovets, Yuri Kovalev, and other ensemble members. Taking the conductor’s podium for the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra will be Yuri Karavayev and Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, People’s Artist of Bashkortostan Artem Makarov.
Yekaterina Dulova emphasized that several areas of cooperation with Asia are currently actively developing. «We have quite close, rapidly developing relations with Vietnam and three of Hanoi’s largest opera and ballet theatres. Among them is the Ho Guom Opera, which has already been showcased here as part of our Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi festival,» she explained.
Furthermore, the theatre is currently preparing for two major projects in Oman. The Oman National Museum will host chamber concerts highlighting Belarus’ young talent, primarily instrumentalists and vocalists. This will be followed by a spectacular two-hour gala at the Royal Opera House Muscat on 12 January, showcasing the very best of European and Belarusian opera.
