Chukotka invites Belarus to develop tourism cooperation

30.03.2026 | 13:25
Chukotka is offering to strengthen tourism cooperation with Belarus and is prepared to provide competitive pricing for this purpose, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Area Vladislav Kuznetsov told the media after meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 30 March, BelTA has learned.

«We really want to show off our region. It’s located far away. But perhaps that’s precisely what makes it interesting, because we have things that are not found here. We have the endless snowy expanses of the tundra, an incredibly beautiful and diverse fauna, polar bears (Wrangel Island is home to the largest population of polar bears). And whales. The migration route for whales runs along the shores of the Beringia Nature Park, which is located in our region. You can see them. You can take a selfie with a whale — that’s a guaranteed story,» the governor said.

When it was pointed out that the cost of such a trip is quite high due to the geographical remoteness and other factors, Vladislav Kuznetsov replied: «We will put together a special pricing structure».

«If we are going to develop something, we need to ensure it is both interesting and competitive. So I hope that together with our colleagues we will work out such options for standard routes that will definitely be appealing and economically competitive,» he added.
