At the Losvido training ground, during a command and staff exercise, the commander of the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces was presented with a mandate to conduct a peacekeeping operation. Aleksei Yelfimov, representing the Armed Forces of Belarus, organized the work of the Joint CPF Command officials to assess the situation and define the operational concept for upcoming joint actions. Concurrently, the units deployed at the training ground commenced tactical training sessions.
Subsequently, the operational concept for the peacekeeping operation was approved. The mission objectives will be executed in three phases. In the first phase, the CPF will occupy the area of responsibility and ensure its isolation, separate the opposing factions, and establish a secure environment in the crisis area. During the second phase, the forces will maintain control over the terrain and local population activities, protect and defend critical infrastructure facilities, and ensure the safe transit of vehicles and the functioning of communication lines. In the third phase, primary focus will be placed on transferring the critical infrastructure facilities and the area of responsibility to the local authorities.
The Indestructible Brotherhood 2026 command and staff exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces and the Barrier 2026 special exercise with the joint CSTO CBRN defense and medical support formation are being conducted in Belarus. Troop contingents of the CSTO Collective Forces from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan are participating in the exercises.
