15.10.2026 | 11:00

Units repelled an attack by a mock enemy on a humanitarian convoy during the Indestructible Brotherhood 2026 command-and-staff exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces at the Losvido training ground in Belarus, BelTA learned from the joint press center of the exercise.

The exercise drilled the ways of organizing the safe transit of vehicles and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to the population. Special attention was paid to escorting humanitarian cargo, which required coordinated actions by various units and the use of special equipment.

A mixed convoy consisting of armored personnel carriers and trucks moved under reinforced cover. A pair of Mi-35 helicopters controlled the airspace. Route reconnaissance was conducted using UAVs. To protect the convoy, a security detail was formed, including armored personnel carriers, a mobile fire group, as well as electronic warfare assets.

According to the exercise scenario, a mock sabotage and reconnaissance group attacked the humanitarian convoy which was on the move. Motorized riflemen of a formation of the Central Military District (CMD), under the cover of BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, practiced repelling the attack using the standard armament of the combat vehicles and AK-12 assault rifles. An electronic warfare (EW) system successfully neutralized some of the explosive devices, minimizing losses. Despite damage to one of the vehicles, the rest of the convoy promptly withdrew from under fire and continued moving.

Mobile reserve groups were promptly deployed to provide fire support, destroying the remnants of the sabotage and reconnaissance group.

Belarus is hosting the Indestructible Brotherhood 2026 command and staff exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces and the Barrier 2026 special exercise with the joint CSTO CBRN defense and medical support formation are being conducted in Belarus. The exercises involve troop contingents of the CSTO Collective Forces from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. Among them are military contingents, units of internal affairs bodies (police) and the national guard and also operational groups of the CSTO Joint Staff and the Secretariat. About 40 units of military and special equipment are involved in carrying out the training and combat tasks, including armored personnel carriers, tactical off-road vehicles, quad bikes and motorcycles. All in all, the exercises involve more than 1,500 servicemen and over 300 units of weapons, military and special equipment, including about 80 UAVs of various types.
