As the deputy economy minister noted, in January-July 2026 real incomes rose by 8.1% which was significantly higher than expected.
The main driver of the growth in citizens’ incomes is the dynamics of wages. In real terms, from January to August it added 7.7%. The level of pay for public-sector workers is growing at an even higher rate. «The increase in incomes allows people to behave more actively in the consumer market. In January-August retail posted a 8.4% growth year-on-year. The growth of real incomes of the population was also largely facilitated by the measures taken by the government to curb inflation. Consumer prices rose by 5.1% in January-August over the same period of 2025. In August, Belarus had 4.5% inflation, one of the lowest among the EAEU countries, Yelena Boligatova said.
She noted that going forward, the implementation of production, export, and investment programs will help ensure positive dynamics in economic indicators. The relevant approaches are enshrined in Presidential Decree No. 342 «On the key socio-economic development indicators and targets for 2027» of 30 September 2026.
«Improving the competitiveness of domestic products, increasing exports and improving the financial health of enterprises will become a guarantee of fulfilling the state’s social obligations. These are, above all, the creation of decent living conditions, improvement of the quality of infrastructure, and a further increase in people’s incomes,» Yelena Boligatova added.
