«Real salary growth has accelerated in Belarus, creating conditions for the expansion of consumer demand. In May 2026, real salaries increased by 7.5% year-on-year, following a 6.7% year-on-year growth in April,» the expert analysis states.
According to researchers’ estimates, real salary growth in the public sector remains above the economic average, accelerating to 9.9% year-on-year from 9.7% year-on-year a month earlier.
«Salaries account for about two-thirds of personal income. This increase will continue to support the growth of real disposable income, which rose by 8% year-on-year in January-April 2026. This creates conditions for the further expansion of consumer activity and economic growth. Against this background, we forecast Belarus’ GDP growth at 1.3% in 2026,» the bank concluded.
