The exposition includes four sections: «Confucianism: Ethics, Duty and the State», «Taoism: Harmony with Nature and the Search for Immortality», «Chinese Buddhism: The Path to Enlightenment», «Three Teachings, One Family: A Living Connection Across Time».

The exhibition will acquaint readers with the origins and development of the great spiritual traditions of the Celestial Empire. Visitors will be able to learn from the books what the concept of wu-wei means and why it leads to harmony, how the Confucian notion of «ren» helps build an ideal society, why Taoists sought the elixir of immortality, and how a Buddhist parable can change one’s outlook on life.

According to Olga Neborskaya, head of the International Organizations Documents Service Sector at the National Library of Belarus, visitors will be able to browse books and illustrated albums in Russian, English, and Chinese.

«China is inseparable from Chinese philosophy. Confucius is the foundation of everything for China. Some consider Confucianism a religion, others a philosophy, but the most important thing is that it is the basis of China’s worldview. That is why such an exhibition simply must be held in the Chinese Hall. We decided to put together several sections dedicated to the three main Chinese teachings: Confucianism, Taoism, and even Chinese Buddhism. But we also wanted to talk about other religions, because there are many of them in China. There are representatives of Christianity, Islam, and other faiths. They all coexist peacefully in China. We also dedicated one section to Taoism. We think readers will be interested to learn more about this teaching and its founder, Laozi, and his followers,» Olga Neborskaya said.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to familiarize themselves with the books in detail in the reading room. «If anyone wants to learn more about a particular teaching, our consultants will be happy to point out where to find additional literature,» she added.
