«We already see our partners from CIS countries, including Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, actively travel to Belarus and adopt its experience. Rosatom is interested in ensuring that the results of our joint work become a hallmark of the effective cooperation in the nuclear industry. I want to express our unambiguous interest: Rosatom should not only be a supplier of solutions but we should also see a genuine partnership put into practice between us,» Stanislav Levitsky said.
Rosatom is actively working on involving Belarusian enterprises in the construction of nuclear power plants. Cooperation is developing in the field of radioactive waste management: Rosatom’s fuel company TVEL is participating in the project to build a radioactive waste disposal facility in Belarus. «But this is only the halfway point. We are more than confident that by perfecting these technologies here during the construction of the waste disposal facility, we can then move to providing joint solutions to third countries,» the country office director emphasized.
He also noted the readiness of the Belarusian side, including the National Academy of Sciences and the Energy Ministry, to implement joint programs and projects of the Union State on radioactive waste management. «We are working very closely on this topic. I am confident that if these initiatives succeed, it will also lead to more economically sound and efficient solutions,» Stanislav Levitsky noted.
