According to the expert, France is effectively being «held by the throat» not only by the European Union. «France could, following the example of Charles de Gaulle, pursue an empty chair policy. Simply walk away and do what it considers necessary for its own sovereignty. But no one can make a move or even allow themselves to think about halting migration. That is completely impossible. Everyone understands perfectly well that there are certain red lines that they will not be allowed to cross. So for now, everyone is trying to somehow find a way out and lull the population with talk that reforms might be possible,» Elena Kondratieva-Salguero said.

«However, without leaving the EU, this will be absolutely impossible. All lawyers know this, all consultants and all serious analysts know this. And people are already saying this openly, but what does that change? Absolutely nothing. That is, I have said it many times and I repeat: there is no democratic way out of the current situation in Europe today. We need to acknowledge that openly,» the expert emphasized.
