Fire monitoring in focus as emergency chiefs of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan meet in Nesvizh

The 13th meeting of the Joint Board of the Emergencies Ministries of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia took place in Nesvizh under Belarus’ chairmanship on 22 September, BelTA has learned.



The meeting was attended by Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky, Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters Alexander Kurenkov, and Minister for Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan Murat Mukhanov.

This year, the sides considered issues of introducing advanced technologies into the production of fire and rescue equipment, innovative practices for responding to emergencies involving electric transport, as well as improving mechanisms for monitoring and forecasting fires and conducting rescue operations in mountainous terrain with rocky relief.

The Belarusian emergencies ministry noted that over many years of work, the joint board has become a platform for discussing and adopting both strategic and practical decisions aimed at improving the level of safety of the population, economic facilities and critical infrastructure from a wide range of modern crises and threats. The attention of the emergencies ministers was focused not only on the trilateral agenda but also on promoting joint interests within the CIS, the CSTO, the EAEU and other international organizations.

The joint board of the emergencies ministries of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia was established to coordinate joint activities in the field of protecting the population and territories from emergencies. Board meetings are held annually.
