First grass harvest reaches 91% of plan in Belarus

Belarus has completed first grass cutting across an area of 1.284 million hectares, or 91% of the plan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.



Some 94% of cut forage was gathered. Hay production stands at 121,000 tonnes, or 17% of the target.

Agricultural organizations harvested 7.196 million tonnes of haylage or 50% of the plan (14.309 million tonnes). Haylage output is outpacing last year’s in every region.

Silage harvest progress by region looks as follows: Minsk Oblast — 1.816 million hectares (52% of planned areas), Brest Oblast — 1.325 million hectares (44%), Grodno Oblast — 1.265 million hectares (47%), Mogilev Oblast — 1.081 million hectares (65% of plan), Gomel Oblast — 884,000 hectares (58%), Vitebsk Oblast — 824,000 hectares (43%).

Agricultural organizations stocked 254,000 tonnes of silage or 1% of the plan; 2.138 million tonnes of feed units of grass or 21% of the plan (10.131 million tonnes).

Mineral fertilizers for spring planting have been accumulated in the amount 100% of the plan.
