Summing up high-level bilateral talks in the DPRK, Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that the Belarusian head of state uses meetings with foreign partners to tackle regional or global issues as well.
«Even in these circumstances, our president is doing everything possible to strengthen ties between countries that are very far apart, even if just with small but meaningful bonds. He’s helping them find common ground in their positions and encouraging them to understand each other. All to either avoid serious upheavals or promote initiatives aimed at peace,» the minister said.

In his words, the talks in Pyongyang, beyond the bilateral agenda, also covered relations with the USA and Russia.
«When the president laid a wreath at the Liberation Monument, there was also a bouquet of flowers laid on behalf of Vladimir Putin. That was at the request of the Russian leader,» the diplomat noted. «When discussing relations with the USA, the president shared his view that the USA shouldn’t approach many issues in Asia, or here in general, so categorically to avoid the kind of negative trends we’ve seen in other parts of the world. In other words, the president has long gone beyond simple bilateral relations in his talks with leaders of many countries. He’s already trying to address regional and global issues, many of which are still distant from Belarus for now. But they’re crucial for the world’s development.»
Maxim Ryzhenkov added that this is how Belarus is working to reduce global tensions. The countryэs leadership proceeds from the understanding that if everyone doesn’t work in this direction sooner or later, trouble could reach any state.
