Foreign ministries of Belarus, Turkmenistan sign cooperation program

Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov and Turkmen Minister of Foreign Affairs Raşit Meredow signed a cooperation program between the two nations’ foreign ministries for 2027-2028, BelTA has learned.



The meeting between the top diplomats took place in Turkmenistan’s Avaza tourist zone ahead of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council session.

According to the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parties positively assessed interagency cooperation, noting its constructive and progressive nature. The ministers discussed the status and prospects of intensifying bilateral dialogue at various levels, including within the framework of the joint Belarus-Turkmenistan intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation. They also reviewed the schedule of upcoming economic events, including conventions and exhibitions. The parties focused specifically on cooperation within multilateral platforms, noting the alignment of the two countries’ approaches to key issues on the international agenda and their mutual support in elections to UN bodies. 

The diplomats reaffirmed their interest in further coordinating joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region, particularly in the context of the upcoming Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.

The ministers noted the steady positive dynamics of bilateral trade and the complementarity of the two economies. They also focused on expanding cooperation in transport and logistics, including the use of Turkmenistan’s port infrastructure and the potential establishment of transit hubs for Belarusian products. The parties discussed the resumption of flights between Minsk and Ashgabat and emphasized the importance of preserving the historical memory that unites the two nations.


Maxim Ryzhenkov invited his counterpart to pay an official visit to Belarus.
