Government approves regulations on free IVF treatment in Belarus

24.06.2026 | 10:05

The Belarusian government has approved the regulations on free in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment, BelTA learned from the government’s press service.

Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin signed the relevant resolution on free IVF treatment and financing of the associated costs from the state budget. Under the new rules, patients will no longer be required to apply to regional selection commissions in order to receive a free IVF treatment. The requirement to establish such commissions has also been abolished. Given that the regulations now provide for the possibility of two free IVF attempts, they additionally establish, in contrast to the previously effective rules, specific provisions governing the granting of a second IVF attempt in cases where cryopreserved embryos are held in storage and describe the rules for their transport.

The resolution also provides for the centralization of the state-funded IVF programs at the National Research and Treatment Center Mother and Child.

The resolution will enter into force on 25 June 2026.
