Today, the Holy Dormition Zhirovichi Monastery hosted a meeting between the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic and the chairs of regional, district, and city Councils of Deputies. The event covered a wide range of issues. «We updated our colleagues on the work of local deputies, including their meetings with workforces and handling of public grievances. We also discussed media relations, compliance with anti-corruption legislation, and the resolution of pressing tasks,» the speaker of the Council of the Republic said.

One of these pressing tasks is the successful completion of the harvest campaign. «During the government conference call, the head pf state urged everyone to get involved and do everything possible to ensure that the crops currently in the fields are fully harvested. We can see that the current results are encouraging. However, at the same time, we realize that a significant amount of work lies ahead. Deputies must not just sit on the sidelines here. We are not a regulatory body, and we do not demand any reports or summaries. But we need to see how this work is structured on the ground — how people are working, whether they are provided with meals, and what problems might exist, so we can advise local authorities and quickly eliminate these shortcomings,» Natalya Kochanova emphasized.

The speaker pointed out that for deputies, no issue is outside their scope. «They are people’s representatives who must live the lives of their constituents. The quarterly meetings we hold with the chairs of regional, city, and district Councils of Deputies are crucial for us. They help us hear the existing concerns and set the tasks that our country’s deputy corps needs to address. We understand perfectly well that engaging with the public is a critical aspect of our activity, allowing us to work more effectively on draft laws and better understand the processes taking place on the ground,» the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic noted.
