01.07.2026 | 08:35

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived in the Republic of Indonesia on an official visit, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The Belarusian head of state was welcomed with national flair. Indonesian music, dances, a guard of honor, and a motorcycle escort — everything was at the highest level.Among the unusual touches was a flyover of military aircraft in honor of Aleksandr Lukashenko’s arrival. The Indonesian Air Force fighter jets escorted the president’s plane as it approached Jakarta.

Belarusian leader is set to hold talks with Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto. Special emphasis will be placed on the prospects for developing relations in trade, economy, and investment and also humanitarian cooperation.

Several international documents are expected to be signed following the talks. The key document will be a roadmap for the development of Belarus-Indonesia cooperation in priority areas for 2026-2030.

A high-level Belarusian delegation comprising heads of ministries, agencies, and various domestic enterprises arrived in Jakarta ahead of the head of state’s visit. Following the business forum that took place, bilateral documents worth more than $60 million were signed, and partners on both sides are currently working on promising projects. The key areas of cooperation are industry and technology, the agricultural sector, and food supplies. Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia, and its population represents both a vast labor force and a gigantic domestic market. The country is also one of the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In 2025, bilateral trade in goods amounted to more than $472 million. Trade in services reached $165 million. This year has seen significant upward momentum in these indicators.

The development of trade and economic cooperation is also expected to be facilitated by the free trade agreement between Indonesia and the EAEU states, signed at the end of 2025.

Aleksandr Lukashenko has already visited Indonesia: in 2013, the head of state made a state visit to the country. «Deepening relations with the states of Southeast Asia is one of the priorities of Belarus’ foreign policy. Indonesia is one of the key countries for advancing our interests in this vast region,» the president stated at the time.
