The head of state was briefed in detail on the consequences of the strong winds that swept across the country on 5-6 September. It was noted that the adverse weather did not cause any serious problems.

Approximately 280 communities experienced power supply disruptions, which energy workers fully restored within 24 hours. The strong winds also damaged trees, and emergency response units were deployed for their timely clearance. In Minsk, three children were injured when a frame tent collapsed; they received all necessary medical assistance.

During the report, Aleksandr Lukashenko underscored the importance of not only responding to the adverse weather but also ensuring its timely forecasting in order to minimize potential damage. Attention was also given to the coordination between the Emergencies Ministry and all appropriate agencies in disaster response efforts.

Currently, the Emergencies Ministry is preparing for the autumn—winter season. As temperatures drop, the use of heating appliances in private homes will increase. In view of the possible rise in the number of residential fires, the emergency service is implementing a comprehensive set of preventive measures.
