The main focus was on the organization of storm recovery efforts in Grodno Oblast, particularly in Grodno itself, which bore the brunt of the severe thunderstorm. On 1 August, half of the monthly average rainfall fell in just three hours, leading to flooded streets, buildings, and structures.

The president was briefed on the operational response measures taken, including water pumping, vehicle evacuation from flooded areas, tree cutting, and street cleanup. This work is currently ongoing. Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized the need to provide priority assistance to the affected population.

The situation in Voronovo District was also discussed, where the thunderstorm damaged a significant number of residential buildings, outbuildings, and grain crops. An assessment of the damage is currently underway, and assistance will be provided in accordance with established procedures.

The president was also interested in how the emergency prevention and response system performed overall, and how coordinated and efficient the actions of the authorities were in dealing with the aftermath of the natural disaster. It was noted that there are challenges in accurately forecasting severe weather events. In this regard, the emergencies ministry, together with the National Center for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Control, and Environmental Monitoring (Belhydromet) and the National Academy of Sciences, will need to carry out substantial work. The president was also briefed on additional measures to improve the public warning system.

Another topic of the report was the involvement of the emergencies ministry personnel and units in the harvest campaign. Currently, 237 staff members are taking part. All bodies and units of the ministry are working closely with local authorities and are ready to provide additional personnel if needed. As is customary, during the harvest season and the period of heightened fire risk, forces and resources are being reinforced for rapid emergency response.
