Belarusian experience in mechanizing Zimbabwe’s agriculture will also be useful for Ghana, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov told the media on 8 June, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about Belarus’ cooperation with African countries in the agricultural sector, Yuri Gorlov cited the successful work in Zimbabwe as an example. As a result of cooperation with Belarus on the development of the agricultural sector, Zimbabwe has managed to achieve near-complete food security. The agriculture and food minister believes that similar experience will also prove useful in Ghana.

«We can carry out the same work in Ghana. This includes, in particular, the supply of agricultural machinery, which is a primary necessity for food production. And we are ready to provide all necessary assistance to ensure that Ghana is supplied with its own products, at least the range of goods that the population of this country needs,» Yuri Gorlov emphasized.

According to him, Minsk is ready to offer assistance and support to Accra in training Ghanaian specialists at Belarusian agricultural universities. «We are training students from 53 countries around the world. Students from Ghana can also join. And we are ready to do everything necessary so that specialists from Ghana can later work on the ground to ensure their country’s food security,» he said.

Regarding cooperation at the current stage, Yuri Gorlov noted that Belarus supplies food products to Ghana, such as beef, poultry meat, and offal. At the same time, the trade of agricultural products between the two countries showed growth and in 2024 exceeded the level of 2025. Positive dynamics are also observed this year in this regard.

The minister also noted that during the visit to Belarus, the president of Ghana toured the Belagro 2026 exhibition, where he was able to get familiar in detail with Belarus’ competencies in the agricultural sector. «The president of Ghana was interested in the production of amino acids and compound feed by the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation. I think we can also find certain footholds here for further sales of our products,» he emphasized.
