The postage stamp was issued by the Belarusian Ministry of Communications and Informatization. The project was implemented in cooperation with the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The design is by Marina Krezo. The print run of the stamp is 12,000 copies.

As it was noted at the event, a postage stamp serves as a means of preserving historical memory. The ceremony in Minsk became part of a large series of events held across the SCO member states to mark the anniversary. The event was attended by SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov, and representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a platform for dialogue and cooperation among member states in key areas such as politics, trade, economy, science, technology, culture, and many others. It was founded on 15 June 2001 by the leaders of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. 

Belarus has participated in the SCO since 2010 as a dialogue partner, since 2015 as an observer, and since 2024 as a full member.

Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that in its two years as an SCO member, Belarus has taken part in many of the organization’s events and has repeatedly acted as an initiator and organizer of meetings and forums under the SCO umbrella.

As the minister emphasized, Belarus’ initiatives are aimed at improving the organization’s work, strengthening cooperation among SCO countries, engaging even more actively in addressing global and regional issues, as well as responding to the serious challenges and threats faced at the present stage.

Belarus held the SCO Green Belt campaign during the anniversary celebrations. An alley was planted to mark the SCO’s 25th anniversary, symbolizing Belarus’ steadfast commitment to the organization’s goals and objectives. Among the key events is the 10th meeting of the education ministers of the SCO member states, which is taking place in the Belarusian capital on 16 June.

Maxim Ryzhenkov also noted that the process of expanding the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation with new member states is continuing dynamically, and the organization is paying increasing attention to addressing serious transboundary challenges of the modern era.
