Minsk to host CIS and SCO Counter-Terrorism Forum on 7-8 October

The Counter-Terrorism Forum of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held in Minsk on 7-8 October, BelTA learned from the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.



Delegations from 28 states, 17 CIS and SCO bodies and 10 international organizations have been invited to take part in the forum. The forum will include the 4th CIS Conference on Combating Terrorism and Extremism and the 12th International Scientific and Practical Conference of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure. In addition, the 22nd joint anti-terrorism exercise of the competent bodies of the CIS member states and the 22nd joint anti-terrorism exercise of the competent bodies of the SCO member states will be held.

«At the conference, delegates will assess the impact of the situation in various regions of the world on the formation of terrorist and extremist threats and share national experience in countering modern challenges in the security sector. The event will consider current aspects of international counter-terrorism cooperation and the main directions for improving the legal, organizational and practical foundations of interaction. Specialized sessions of the conference will be devoted to scientific and educational support for activities in combating terrorism and extremism, as well as to the problems of countering the financing of terrorist activity and information counteraction to terrorism,» the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center said.

On 8 October, the force phase of the final stages of the CIS and SCO anti-terrorism exercises Eurasia Antiterror 2026 will be held in a combined format with the participation of an interstate contingent of special forces.
