Over 5,000 EV charging stations are expected to be installed in Minsk by 2030, Chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of the Minsk City Executive Committee Viktor Gutko said during the 21st session of the Minsk City Council of Deputies, BelTA has learned.

Revealing the key points of the concept for the development of EV charging infrastructure in Minsk, Viktor Gutko noted that the document submitted for approval was preceded by extensive work on implementing the decree «On stimulating the use of electric vehicles.»

«The concept for the development of the charging infrastructure was primarily formed taking into account the specific features of the capital. It also determines the procedure for placing charging stations, considering the developed urban planning documentation, technical feasibility in terms of power supply, as well as the environmental component and proximity to points of attraction, and areas where citizens live and rest,» Viktor Gutko said.

As of 1 July 2026, according to contracts concluded with power supply organizations, there were about 1,300 charging stations of varying capacity in the city.

«Taking into account the infrastructure development through 2030, over 5,000 charging stations are planned in Minsk,» the expert said.

Charging stations with capacities up to 44 kW, which provide charging times ranging from two to eight hours, are typically installed in areas of long-term electric vehicle parking: in residential areas, near hotels, office buildings, and other public facilities, etc. Fast chargers (up to 170 kW) with a charging time from 30 minutes to two hours, as well as superfast chargers (over 170 kW) that allow charging a vehicle in 10–20 minutes, are installed near transport hubs with heavy traffic flows, at gas stations, near shopping centers, and at park-and-ride lots.

«The concept for the development of charging infrastructure plans that fast and superfast stations will account for about 70% of the total number,» Viktor Gutko emphasized.

As of 1 July 2026, more than 30,000 electric vehicles were registered in Minsk.
