Pavel Tkach recalled that Belarus has introduced administrative liability for mobile operators for insufficient communication quality and territory coverage. «There is a mandatory requirement to ensure coverage of M-class highways with the appropriate parameters, which are measured. One of the operators, unfortunately, according to the conclusion of the Belarusian State Inspectorate for Telecommunications, failed to meet these requirements. The materials were handed over to the court. This is our first precedent. The fine for a major operator is small, just 100 base amounts. A deadline has been set to eliminate the causes — by the end of this year. If it is not eliminated, then the materials will be handed over to the court again and a repeated penalty will be imposed until the operator fix the problem,» he noted.
As BelTA previously reported, on 19 June 2026 Belarus introduced an administrative liability for mobile operators for violating requirements on the quality and coverage of services. The fine can reach up to 1,000 base amounts.
