New healthcare facilities coming to Minsk next year

05.10.2026 | 09:00

Yuri Gorbich, Chairman of the Healthcare Committee of the Minsk City Hall, spoke on the RTR-Belarus TV channel about new healthcare facilities coming to Minsk next year, BelTA has learned.

«The first is a new infectious diseases hospital. The hospital that will be built there is probably the only one, apart from Mogilev, where a new infectious diseases building has also been constructed, where the principle of separating the flows of doctors and patients, and of patients from one another, will be implemented,» Yuri Gorbich said. «It is designed so that its capacity can be doubled within 24 hours.»

The new hospital will consist of a main building, four ward buildings and one building for particularly dangerous infectious diseases, a utility block and several other structures. The total area of the site will be around 10 hectares.

The need for new premises was dictated by the times and the desire to develop. «The existing infectious diseases hospital at 76 Kropotkin Street is partly housed in buildings constructed in 1913. Even in these conditions, it is one of the best infectious diseases hospitals in the country. And perhaps not only in the country,» the committee chairman emphasized. «The most important thing is the people who work there. And to give the people who often work wonders there, and not only there, the opportunity to do so in conditions that will be even more pleasant for them, where a patient arrives and understands that what they pictured in their head is no different from what they see before their eyes. The success of treatment also depends on this.»

A new polyclinic for the oncology dispensary will open at the beginning of next year. The building has already taken shape. «We plan that it will open its doors in February 2027,» Yuri Gorbich noted.

The new building is being constructed near the other buildings of the center and City Clinical Hospital No. 1. It is designed for 1,000 visits per shift and will provide outpatient and consultative-diagnostic care. It will house consultative-polyclinic and diagnostic departments, including a department for thyroid pathology, departments for radiation, magnetic resonance and ultrasound diagnostics, a physiotherapy department and a reception area. For the convenience of patients, the building will feature a barrier-free environment with ground-level entry.
