Over the past day alone, 18 fires of dry vegetation were registered in the region on a total area of more than 2.2 hectares. In the Zelvensky district, a forest burned on an area of 0.1 hectares.
On March 22, units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations traveled to the village of Glovsevichi, Slonim district, where an outbuilding was on fire in a private courtyard. As it turned out, the man was burning garbage on a neighboring plot, but he placed a fire pit near a neighbor’s outbuildings. Gusts of wind blew away the sparks in a matter of minutes. Villagers found smoke and flames from under the roof and reported the incident to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Rescuers extinguished the fire, fortunately, people were not injured.
In Grodno, dry vegetation caught fire on Rechnaya Street in the floodplain of the Lososyanka River. The alleged cause of the emergency is an abandoned unopened cigarette butt. The fire destroyed 200 square meters of land, including shrubs. The perpetrators have not yet been identified.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that safety rules should be observed when burning plant debris. You can build a campfire only in calm weather. The place for burning should be chosen away from buildings and forests. The surrounding area must be cleared of dry grass, foliage and combustible materials. At the same time, fire extinguishing equipment must be at hand: a fire extinguisher, a bucket of water, a shovel or sand.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, since the beginning of the year, 122 fires of dry vegetation have been registered in the Grodno region on a total area of 18.92 hectares and 4 forest fires on a total area of 1.08 hectares.
