Belarus and China are strengthening their partnership. The matter was discussed during the Belarusian-Chinese forum Industry Unites Eurasia, which took place on the sidelines of the 5th exhibition of Chinese goods and services, BelTA has learned.

Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Aleksei Trukhanov noted that Belarus and China rightfully belong to the group of countries setting the win-win rules of the game as an alternative to the policy of unfriendly countries. «In this context the Years of Industrial Cooperation should play a decisive role. They will rightfully succeed the Years of Cooperation between our countries in science, technology, and innovation,» he stressed.

Aleksei Trukhanov added that it is necessary to respond to modern challenges and threats by offering a cooperation toolkit to the global community. Development scenarios and roadmaps are needed to determine the right course in the face of competition and bring together competencies. «This is China’s powerful industrial potential and the fundamental developments of Belarusian science multiplied by the advantages of strategic cooperation and correct geopolitical positioning to create manufacturing facilities, products, and services,» he explained.

Cooperation in research and development has been and remains one of the priorities of Belarusian-Chinese relations. The Chinese scientific community is viewed by the Belarusian side as a strategic scientific partner. «The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, both at the national level and at the level of provinces, actively works to create conditions for developing scientific schools and conducting advanced research in various fields: from physics and mathematics to biological and agricultural sciences as well as healthcare,» Aleksei Trukhanov said.

According to the deputy chairman, today the countries face a new-level task: ensuring the transition to the architecture of the science of the future, which is meant to become the main driver of economic growth based on strengths, best practices, and competencies.

Aleksei Trukhanov emphasized cooperation with the SINOMACH corporation. Interaction with companies opens up new prospects for joint research in AI, cybersecurity, and digital transformation of the manufacturing sector. The parties are discussing steps to set up a joint laboratory and implement projects under the Belt and Road initiative.

Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of China in Belarus Jiang Xiaolin said that in the last few years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries an all-weather and all-round partnership has been established between China and Belarus. In his words, the scope of interaction is steadily expanding, and trade channels are becoming increasingly important.

As the embassy representative noted, in traditional large-scale wholesale trade, Chinese enterprises have formed stable solvent demand, which laid a reliable foundation for the baseline volume of bilateral trade. «In the last few years, as Chinese supply chains accelerate their penetration of overseas markets, interaction between our countries is acquiring a bigger scale. Belarus possesses a solid industrial base and serves as a key transit link on the route of China-Europe freight trains,» he said.

Jiang Xiaolin added that Chinese investments in Belarus contribute to enhancing the manufacturing potential of the Belarusian side while, in turn, Belarusian exports to China satisfy the needs of the Chinese supply chain.

Director General of China National Machinery Industry Complete Engineering Corporation (SINOMACHINT) Sun Junhai stressed: «Industry is the foundation of Chinese-Belarusian interaction, and strengthening manufacturing ties is a bridge connecting the future of the two countries. Today we are taking practical steps to build a reliable bridge for cooperation along the science — manufacturing — research line.»

SINOMACHINT acts as the organizer of expos of Chinese products and services. «Through professional exhibition services, we promote industrialization, the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative, and act as an active driver of foreign economic cooperation,» Sun Junhai noted.

The director general also added that the company is integrating into regional cooperation between the two countries, especially in forming the industrial ecosystem of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. «By forming a matrix of specialized high-level expos, we focus on smart manufacturing. Such an approach provides solid support for boosting the competitiveness of products from both countries and forms a new ecosystem of mutually beneficial industrial growth,» she said.

During the forum a ceremony was also held to sign a strategic cooperation agreement between the Chinese technology company Topsound and the Belarusian company SinRubEnergo, which specializes in comprehensive automation of technological and business processes, and full-cycle system engineering in energy, industry, and housing and utilities. Apart from that, a ceremony took place to open a joint Chinese-Belarusian laboratory for solar energy, storage systems, and charging systems.

The Belarusian-Chinese trade, economic, and investment cooperation forum Industry Unites Eurasia brought together representatives of government agencies, research institutions, and business circles of China and Belarus for an in-depth discussion about two key topical areas: industrial energy storage as well as the business environment and cooperation opportunities.
