Anatoly Isachenko noted that the solid foundation of interstate cooperation is the economy. «Russia is our main partner in foreign trade,» he emphasized. «Seventy-eight regions [of Russia] are our trade partners. Interregional cooperation is an important element in the development of bilateral relations. Work has been organized to sign cooperation agreements: we have such agreements with 29 Russian regions.»
The opening of a branch of the Russian Embassy in Mogilev is another step toward strengthening cooperation. «Undoubtedly, the opening of a branch of the Russian Federation’s embassy in Mogilev will help strengthen economic, interregional, and cultural ties. Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov rightly noted that opening embassy branches in the regions ensures diplomacy within walking distance,» the governor said.
Vladimir Vanke pointed out that opening a branch in Mogilev will allow local residents to resolve issues related to consular and diplomatic support without traveling to Minsk. «There are people with limited mobility, there are Russian citizens who permanently reside here. Tourists from Russia come to the region, as do specialists on economic missions. All of them need diplomatic support and assistance. There are also local residents who may require help,» he noted. «This will eliminate issues of waiting times, appointments, and electronic queues. Therefore, it is very important that people can receive the necessary consultations locally.»
This step will also help strengthen cultural, social, and tourism ties. «This opens many opportunities,» Vladimir Vanke emphasized.
The branch will be located on Leninskaya Street. Renovation work is currently underway, and the official opening will take place later.
