Sabalenka stays atop WTA rankings following French Open

Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus continues to top the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings following the second Grand Slam tournament of the season, the French Open, BelTA has learned.



On the Paris courts of Roland Garros, Aryna Sabalenka reached the quarterfinals and currently has 9,090 points. Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, who sits in second place, trails the leader by 947 points. Russian Mirra Andreeva, the French Open champion, moved up to sixth place, while Polish finalist Maja Chwalińska jumped 93 spots from 114th to 21st. Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who failed to qualify for the main draw of the French Open, is in 123rd position.

At the top of the ATP rankings, Italian Jannik Sinner remains No. 1, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz is in second place, and third is Germany’s Alexander Zverev, the newly crowned Roland Garros champion. The highest-ranked Belarusian men’s tennis player, Daniil Ostapenkov, is in 541st place.
