The traditional Makovei festival will take place at Blue Springs in Slavgorod District on 13-14 August, the Slavgorod District Executive Committee told BelTA.

Blue Springs is a hydrological natural monument of national significance. Every year, thousands of people from various corners of Belarus and Russia gather here to join the grand celebration, which seamlessly blends historical, cultural, and spiritual life.

The celebration gets underway on 13 August with a bustling trade fair opening its doors to visitors. It will offer a wide variety of souvenirs, honey, delicious treats from local artisans, and various handmade goods. The cultural program will continue with the Songs of the Springs concert, featuring performances by solo artists and creative groups. The schedule also includes workshops in various traditional crafts, a presentation of Slavgorod District’s tourism potential, and an evening service held right by the springs.

The main day of the Makovei celebration falls on 14 August. The program near the spring features a prayer service with an Akathist, followed by the Divine Liturgy. The spiritual highlights of the day will conclude with the blessing of the waters and a religious procession, during which believers can have their honey and herbs blessed.

The festival will continue with a festive competition featuring creative groups from Mogilev Oblast and other regions. A wide array of activities and venues will remain open until late in the evening, including workshops, tourist equipment rentals, and guided tours of the springs. Visitors can also explore a bustling fair offering honey and bee products, authentic cheese from local cheesemakers, souvenirs, handmade goods, jewelry, and much more.
