State Control Committee outlines plans for upcoming road quality checks in Belarus

10.08.2026 | 16:19

The State Control Committee continuously monitors the road sector in various forms, Oleg Kundelov, the deputy head of the Directorate for Monitoring Material Production Sectors at the State Control Committee of Belarus, said in the latest episode of BelTA’s project The National Speaks.

For example, in July the State Control Committee conducted a detailed review of roadside maintenance and identified a number of serious shortcomings ranging from overgrowth of weeds to untimely disposal of vacant property and improper storage of timber. Relevant proposals are currently being prepared for state governance bodies.

Special attention is also being paid to the construction of high-profile facilities, such as M3 Highway and M10 Highway and the construction of bridges over the Sozh River and Pripyat River. «For example, construction of the bridge over the Pripyat on the Luninets—Stolin section began recently. However, measures have been already suggested, including based on proposals from the committee, to reduce the cost of this project by Be1.5 million by eliminating inflated prices for construction materials,» Oleg Kundelov noted. He explained that under conditions of parallel design and construction, the cost optimization process is ongoing, and the proposals from the State Control Committee have become an important factor in reducing costs.
