26.06.2026 | 12:15

European leaders have forgotten the tragic consequences to which fascism led, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said at the Fourth International Anti‑Fascist Congress, held at the Central Officers’ House in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Volfovich noted that the current international situation shows troubling trends that heighten tensions around the world, lead to the unleashing of hybrid wars, and give rise to new challenges and threats affecting the security of many states. «And one of those challenges, one of those threats, is the manifestation of fascism and neo-Nazism in all their forms,» he said, adding that many European leaders have forgotten the tragic consequences that fascism brought 85 years ago.

«Belarus has stood and continues to stand for preventing the spread of fascism and for preserving historical memory. This matter is one of the highest priorities for the head of our state. And the fact that today’s congress is being held on the initiative of the Defense Ministry shows that Belarus is taking tangible action to avert this evil and its consequences for all of humanity,» Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.

He wished the participants productive, interesting, and constructive work, as well as success in accomplishing their tasks, and also read out a welcoming address from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
