Volfovich notes major progress in Belarus’ Armed Forces after readiness inspection

22.10.2026 | 14:00

State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich shared his assessment of the Armed Forces inspection, conducted on the instructions of the president, at the Brestsky training ground on 22 October, BelTA has learned.

The combat readiness inspection and the assessment of core missions are ongoing in the Belarusian army. Recently, numerous high-readiness units of operational commands, including mechanized and tank battalions, as well as artillery formations, have been inspected. «We can draw a clear conclusion by comparing what we saw during the inspection in H1 2026 with what we see now when checking military units. Of course, there is a huge difference. A major breakthrough has been achieved, and the professional training of military personnel has been boosted,» Aleksandr Volfovich said.

Following the previous large-scale inspection, a detailed report with a comprehensive review was prepared for the commander-in-chief. The president set tasks to refine combat and physical training programs and to improve their quality.

According to Aleksandr Volfovich, the current inspection is entering its final stretch. He evaluated the performance of the 38th Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade. On 19 October, its rapid response company and one of the military units were placed on alert under peacetime staffing to carry out core missions, acting on orders from the State Secretariat of the Security Council. The servicemen were assigned a number of combat training tasks, including physical, fire, and tactical training. Specifically, they conducted a march, deployed to a concentration area at the Brestsky training ground, and passed physical fitness standards in running, pull-ups (for men), and sit-ups (for women). The next stage involves day and night shooting drills using standard weapons (assault rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers) and BTR-82A armament.

Guards Private Andrei Nesterenko has been serving for a year. During this time, he has fully mastered the military training course and gained sufficient experience. He serves as a gunner in his combat vehicle crew. «We continuously practice our shooting training — every other day, sometimes even every day. I am responsible for my vehicle’s weapons, the cannon and the machine gun. There’s nothing complicated about this inspection; it just requires a bit more focus,» the serviceman said.

The state secretary of the Security Council pointed out that airborne assault units are the elite of the Armed Forces. «I can see that their performance stands out from all the rest, arguably for the better: they are better trained, more mobile, and act with greater confidence, exactly as it should be. They truly live up to their motto, No one but us. The results are genuinely pleasing,» Aleksandr Volfovich noted.

He emphasized that it is too early to draw final conclusions. As soon as the inspection is over, a detailed analysis will be conducted. Experts will evaluate the results and identify areas that still require attention. Then, everything will be reported to the president. «The inspection of all branches of the state military organization is not yet over. There are a number of them next in line to be checked before the end of the year,» the state secretary of the Security Council said.
