«We maintain a balance in age composition and generational continuity. Our team includes employees aged 19 to 72, with an average age of 44. One in three has been working in the state statistics system for over 20 years. More than 200 specialists are under 31, accounting for 11% of the team. Every year, we provide first-time jobs to university graduates, support young people, and create conditions for professional growth. Young statisticians actively participate in patriotic events and activities dedicated to landmark moments in the country’s history,» Inna Medvedeva said.
And yes, it is often said that Belarusian statistics has a female face: 93% of employees are women. The most common names among them are Natalya, Yelena, and Tatiana.
If you were to draw a statistical portrait of a woman working in the Belarusian statistics system, it would look like this: Belarusian, 45 years old, higher education, state civil servant, married, two children.
«The competence of our women has been repeatedly recognized with the highest forms of state recognition. Among those working in the statistics system, 20 women have been awarded orders and medals, and 21 have received the President’s Letter of Commendation,» Inna Medvedeva emphasized.
«Thanks to each of them — their professionalism, responsibility, and dedication — we keep pace with the times, adopting digital technologies while maintaining high quality in statistical information. The National Statistical Committee of Belarus was among the first government bodies to embark on the path of digital transformation. Interaction with respondents has been fully transitioned to an electronic format. We are actively introducing advanced digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, to optimize data collection, processing, and analysis,» she concluded.
