«Foreign citizens temporarily staying or temporarily residing in Belarus are entitled to use their foreign driving licenses. The license must comply with the requirements of the 1968 Convention on Road Traffic, or be issued in one of the official languages of Belarus, or be accompanied by a certified translation,» the ministry said.
Foreigners who have been granted permanent residence and hold a biometric residence permit must obtain a Belarusian driving license within 90 days. This requirement does not apply to Russian citizens holding Russian-style licenses.
Law enforcement officials warned that driving without a license carries administrative liability, and repeated violations within a year may result in criminal prosecution. «Compliance with traffic rules is mandatory for everyone,» the ministry stressed.
