According to him, more than 20,000 spaces remain vacant in the capital’s parking lots.

When designing and building new housing in Minsk, efforts are made to free courtyards from cars, creating recreation areas, playgrounds, and similar spaces. Outside courtyards, parking spaces and lots are arranged. Nevertheless, many people still try to park as close to their homes as possible.

Vladimir Kukharev noted that city services have developed parking space schemes for Minsk. Paid parking has been introduced in the city center, helping to stabilize the situation and bring order to the central area.

Similar work is underway in residential areas to relocate trucks to designated parking lots, as they previously occupied spaces in courtyards. Parking lots for such vehicles are already operating and more will be built to move trucks out of residential areas and into industrial zones.

Vladimir Kukharev said that to increase the appeal of parking facilities, a task has been set for the state association Garages, Parking Lots and Parking Facilities to equip parking lots and garages under their management with electric charging stations.

«The number of electric vehicles in the city is growing rapidly — already around 30,000. By 2030, there will be more than 100,000. So the task of building electric charging stations is on the agenda. We have prepared and will soon adopt a concept for electric charging stations in the city, which will regulate their distribution so they are evenly spread, not only in the city center but also in neighborhoods and residential areas. The focus is on parking lots, garages, and parking spaces. This will create additional appeal for parking facilities, which, unfortunately, remain underused,» the Minsk mayor said.
