The Global South and Eastern countries expressed strong interest in Belarus’ experience in security measures and countering Western sanctions at the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues held in Moscow on 27-29 May, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the media, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich delivered a speech at the plenary session and over two days held several meetings with delegations from Russia, China, Türkiye, Myanmar, Vietnam, Serbia, Sudan, and Tajikistan. Several talks, including with Iranian representatives, took place in an informal format. Multilateral meetings were also held between security officials from SCO and CIS countries.
«The value of such forums lies in the fact that beyond hosting sessions that address common challenges and threats, this platform facilitates numerous bilateral meetings with a wide range of countries. The forum welcomed around 120 foreign delegations. In addition to pre-arranged bilateral meetings initiated by Belarus, there was a strong interest in conducting additional talks from several nations, particularly from the Global South. Countries are keen to learn from Belarus’ experience, especially in countering sanctions and political pressure from the West, as many nations face similar challenges today. There is a broad interest in how Belarus resists pressure politically and navigates economic constraints effectively,» Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.
